Russ had promised the boys we would go to a Royals game this summer, and then the summer completely got away from us! He had to make good on his promise, of course, so we made it to the game against Texas this weekend, the last home series of the season -- whew, just barely got one it! It was an absolutely gorgeous evening, and we met up with Kyle & Sara's family for some tailgating before the game.
Violet was best contained in the stroller, where she was perfectly content as long as she had something to eat and drink.
Sara and I with our littlest girlies -- Doesn't Evelyn look so old in this picture?? The game was on her 1st birthday!
Little Miss Birthday Girl!!
As game time approached, we headed toward the stadium.
But before we found our seats, we had to play at the "outfield experience" for a while. Evelyn's first experience with a carousel was successful, but Violet wasn't so sure. . .
The boys played some mini-golf first. . .
. . . and then practiced their swing in the batting cages and the "Little K."
It was "buck night" which meant peanuts and hotdogs at the ballpark! Violet LOVED the game! Even as high up as our seats were, she just watched intently the whole time. I would never have guessed she would be so interested!
Evelyn had a great time at her first big-league game. She made it until the 7th inning before falling asleep.
Unlike the past several seasons, the Royals have had a really strong finish this year. There is even talk that they may be playing in October! They beat the Rangers by 1 in the 9th on this night. Keep it up, Boys in Blue!
