Spring Break SDC Tradition

Grandma Cheryl loves taking her grandkids to Silver Dollar City, and she's been taking them on Spring Break for over a decade!  My boys have been lucky enough to go on Opening Day (or close to it) for the past 6 years.  This year, our spring break didn't match up with Ty & Brynn's so we had to change things up a bit.  I went along with mom and took Evie, too.  We had a great time!
The boys are used to having Ty & Brynn to ride the rides with, so they asked to bring a friend.  Kye came along and they headed to Time Traveler first thing.  Kye had never ridden this ride, and I think his head was still spinning a bit when he got off!  Grandma and Oliver rode this one, too, while Evelyn and I rode her favorite ride, the "Magnificent Wave Carousel" (aka the Swings).  And we rode it twice, because there was no line at all early in the day!
Speaking of Evelyn, this girl has gotten a lot braver over the past couple of years when it comes to rides.  We have pics of her screaming on this exact ride from a few years ago, and this time, she didn't even want me to ride with her.  Way to go, sis!
We had fun with Evie at the Fireman's Landing part of the park.
We met up with the boys for lunch, and they had "won" some very useful and practical llamas.  My boys are going to want to bring Kye with them every time we go to SDC because he brought money and wasn't afraid to waste use it!
We ate lunch outside and then let our food settle as we watched the comedian/magician show.  This guy was really good!
After the show, the boys went off to find more rides while Mom, Evie and I explored the Half Dollar Holler part of the park.  We walked across the suspension bride and rode the carousel. . .
. . . and then had lots of fun in the huge tree house!  Evelyn had never been through this before, and it didn't disappoint!
It was fun focusing on just my Evie-girl for most of the day while the boys had their fun.
Speaking of the boys, we met up with them again and this time Kye had bought frozen lemonades for everyone.
It was about time for the KU game in the first round of the NCAA tournament, so we found a nice spot in one of the restaurants to watch the game on Grandma's iPad and our phones.  We had several screens going!
And look how pretty the fireplace was in the restaurant.
Thankfully the KU game was very boring, so we didn't even stay to watch the last 10 minutes or so.  We let the boys have a final stretch of rides while we girls explored another area of the park I'd never been, the Homestead Ridge.  This area is set up as it might have looked in the 1800s with a school house, petting zoo, farm and a couple of cabins.
We met up with the boys one last time, and they were eating Dippin' Dots, courtesy of Kye.  Like I said, Kye is invited for every future trip to SDC if my boys have any say in the matter!
So I didn't get any pics of the boys during their rides, but I'm confident that they had a great time.  And the weather was PERFECT for spring.  We weren't the only ones who thought it would be a great day to visit SDC; they said over 20,000 people were at the park with us!  Although there were a lot of people there, it didn't really affect anything that we wanted to do.
After a very full day, we all headed back to our car to go to the hotel for the night.
We ate pizza and the boys got ready for the pool (really, they only wanted to sit in the hot tub).  But it was hard to pull them away from the tournament games.
The kids decided to hit some mini-golf on Friday, which is something else we've never done in Branson. We had coupons for Dinosaur Canyon Golf, so that's where we played.
Evelyn started out REALLY bad at mini golf, and by the end, she was only KINDA bad!  We had more fun checking out all of the dinosaurs, anyway.
The erupting volcano was the coolest!  We never knew when it might go off, so I was pretty lucky to get a picture of it.
These kids had a fun morning golfing, and Oliver was the big winner (although they told Evie that she had the highest score, so she considered herself the winner).
Our trip to Branson was the perfect ending to an awesome Spring Break.  We are so thankful for the beautiful spring weather and for time spent with friends and family.  The next break from school will be summer!

Spring Break!

Spring break is here, the weather actually feels like spring, and these kids couldn't be happier! We started our spring break having plenty of fun with friends.  The girls had a tea party with Charli and Nora during a playdate. . .
. . . and Evie and Charli had a pedicure party during their sleepover.
Evie also had Carly over and they played some very entertaining "Baby Shark" games (you'll just have to trust me that this is Carly and Evie).
The boys played plenty of basketball, both in our back yard and at the city park.  Yay for nice weather!
And Oliver's buddy, Ozzie, helped us out with the Harvester's food distribution.  We tried out the new coffee shop downtown after we were done loading up the cars with food.  It was so cute and so yummy!
We were able to meet up with Sheri and her boys, which is always fun.  We found a really cool park in Grandview!  You know it's good when your 11-year old sees it and says, "Oh.My."
We beat the cousins there, and my kids wasted no time climbing on all those ropes (well, except Violet, she was content to run around on the squishy turf).

The only way to get to this 50-foot slide was by climbing up the rope spiderweb.  It was really fast and really fun!

KJ, Wes, and Harry arrived and my kids were so excited to play with their cousins, especially Baby Harry!
Harry LOVED the slide, but wasn't so sure about the swing.
Violet was kind of like Harry, not so sure about the swing.  But trust me, the swing was super fun!
There was so much to do at this park!  The kids also really enjoyed the rope merry-go-round and the zip line (even though Wes did have a spill off the zip line which required some clean-up. . .)
There was also a cool music area with lots of different-sized chimes to hit.  We played some beautiful music, let me tell you!
Calvin liked to hang out as high up as possible. . .
. . . except for when he was playing with Harry, of course.
And I'm pretty sure Violet never climbed any higher than the actual green turf.  Oh well, she had a good time!
This was the best we could do for a group picture of the cousins.  What a wonderful day with beautiful weather and lots of fun!
