Are You Ready for Some Football? QB Oliver is!

This was Oliver's first year of playing football as a Wellsville Eagle! With all of the uncertainty, I prepared him at the beginning of the season for a shortened/unusual football season.  I told him to be thankful for every game he got and not get too upset when games were cancelled.  Well, as it turned out, I would've lost a lot of money on that bet! These boys got to play their entire season without a single disruption (the only change was a shortened game at Osawatomie), which is almost unbelievable.  They were so fun to watch, and made tons of improvements over their 7-game season.  I'm going to turn the blog over to the 7th grade Wellsville Eagle Quarterback, who did awesome this year!

I just finished up a fun 7th grade football season. We didn't exactly do as well as we would have liked, going 2-5, but it was still fun being out there with my friends.
This is our first football game against Santa Fe Trail.
Before the play, I always tell my team the play in the huddle.
It's always fun when I get to pass the ball, I completed some pretty good ones this year.
Quarterback is usually pretty fun, but sometimes it isn't that fun when your line doesn't block and you get sacked.
I'm always checking to see if my team is set before the play.
I handed the ball off to Hayden and Colton a lot.
Playing defense was really fun for me also. Here I am making a good tackle.
Trey with the amazing pass protection, picking the guy off of his feet.
I'm trying to get away from the defense to pass the ball right here.
We played our final game of the year at home vs Burlington in the freezing cold. It was about 40 degrees when the game started. Brrrr.
Our coaches this year were Mr. Campbell, Mr. Harrison and Mr. Wright. I enjoyed having them and they made the season really fun.
I had a cheering section with Calvin and some of his friends watching the game.
It was a great football season!

Fall Family Pics

Girls & Grandparents

My girls are so lucky to have grandparents who are involved in their every day lives, and not just special occasions or holidays.  Although with their grandparents, every day activities become special occasions!  For example, last week Violet decided she wanted to ride in the combine with Grandpa Denny during harvest.  With Violet's impulsive nature, this could be rather risky.  But Grandpa was up to the challenge.  Look closely and you'll see our girl waving from the cab of the Gleaner.

I know Violet LOVED getting to ride in the combine and "help" Grandpa with the fall harvest!

Also last week, as Evelyn and I were reading in our "Little Town on the Prairie" book, Laura had begun working for a seamstress in town sewing shirts for the bachelors.  As Evie began asking me questions about sewing machines, I was a little embarrassed at how very little she knew.  I don't personally sew, but I just assumed she knew something about sewing machines for some reason. Well I shared my embarrassment with Grandma Cheryl, and she came to the rescue!
Evelyn was very proud of her finished pillows!  What a gift that my kids have TWO grandmas who can sew!

JM&MG Fall Day!

With the late start to school due to Covid, I didn't realize we would have any days off, so I was so excited to see that the kids would have Friday off following parent-teacher conferences.  Our last Just Me & My Girls Day was on Martin Luther King Day right at the start of 2020, and I honestly thought that would be our only one of the year, so this felt like such a gift!  Evie and I started our day with a little shopping.  She wanted to go to Five Below, and I wanted to go to Hobby Lobby and Walmart, so we had fun getting a few things in all of these stores.  Then we ordered our lunch for pick up at Chipotle.
We modified our JM&MG day a bit because Violet doesn't really like being gone all day, so Daddy was kind enough to bring Vi and meet up with us at the Lawrence Arboretum for lunch and hiking. But first, LUNCH -- Violet gives her Chipotle two thumbs up!
The trees at the Arboretum were so pretty and the day was a perfect cool fall day.
We decided to start collecting some of the pretty leaves we found.
There were so many varieties of trees, we had quite the collection by the time we finished our hike.  Evelyn also found a fuzzy caterpillar, but we didn't add him to our collection.
While there we visited the Woodyard Plaza, donated by our friends, George and Eleanor Woodyard.  Such a peaceful and pretty area!
We explored a bit more before Daddy and Violet headed back home.
While Daddy and Violet went through the car wash (per Vi's request), Evelyn and I got some afternoon refreshment at Sonic.  And then we hit up a fun park in Baldwin on our way home.
We headed home to continue our day with some fun fall crafts.  First we dipped pumpkins in beautiful colors.
Then we Mod-Podged all of those beautiful leaves we'd collected to make some fall decorations.
I wasn't feeling very creative, and was so proud of Evelyn's idea for the leaves.  How gorgeous are these wall hangings??  She even had the idea of writing a Bible verse on the largest leaves in the center.  I think they turned out just perfect.
What a gift this bonus JM&MG day was!  The weather was just right, the fall colors were stunning, and the time spent with my girls was priceless.  Thank you, God, for days like this!
