Heart Walk 2020 (Kinda) and Oliver's Cardiac MRI

There have been so many events cancelled this year due to Covid, and the Heart Walk was one of them.  It was originally scheduled for June, then postponed until September, and then like seemingly everything else, it ultimately became a virtual event. We still got our shirts, though, and joined in the spirit of the walk.  Similar to Zoe's Walk, we had our own peaceful walk down our road on a beautiful fall afternoon.

All of the CHD Families are listed on the back, including our favorite survivors!

While we're on the cardiac subject, Oliver had his MRI done last week.  We left home about 5 a.m. to get downtown in time for his appointment. I love how they used Spiderman as an example to show what it would look like.

He got in some scrubs and they got his IV started, and he was ready to go.  Doesn't Dr. Oliver look so cute?
I had to sit in a tiny waiting room by myself while he completed his MRI.  Thank goodness they had some goggles for him to watch a movie with because it took a full hour and a half.  He had 45 minutes without contrast and another 45 minutes with.  He said it was pretty uncomfortable by the end.  He did great, though. The best news came the next day when Dr. Gelatt called to say that he had no concerns with the results.  The base of his aorta is slightly dilated, but not enough to be concerned about.  His aortic valve is only regurgitating about 8%, and this doesn't become problematic until it reaches around 40%.  He said we'd probably repeat the MRI when he gets into high school just to make sure there haven't been any major changes.  I was so thankful to hear these results!  Praise God for Oliver's healthy heart!
