Fun in Hutch

Of course the highlight of our pre-Spring-Break trip to Hutchinson was the basketball games and WINNING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, but we found some other fun stuff to do in our downtime.  Thankfully the Hampton Inn was nice and had a great breakfast. The girls always tried to get down there before the big boys so that there would be some food left!

They had different waffle options each day with lots of yummy toppings.
Russ went back and forth to Wellsville during the tournament (because tax season). And Oliver hung out with the team most of the time. So this left some quality girl time for the rest of us.  I asked the girls on Thursday (our completely free day) if they wanted to go to the Cosmosphere or the Salt Mine, but they really just wanted to go shopping.  It's your world, ladies! We headed to the Mall first, which ended up being a bit sad. But there were still a few stores that kept us busy for the morning.
Then they saw an Ulta and wanted to check out their free skin care samples. They crack me up.
I let them choose where we'd eat lunch and they decided on Olive Garden -- works for me!
After lunch they wanted to head back to the hotel. After a bit of downtime they decided to hit the gym.  They tried all of the machines I taught them proper lifting form with free weights.  We all worked up a sweat!
We thought about going swimming, but then discovered this happening in the pool.  I wasn't sure there would be any water left when these boys were done swimming!
We got the lobby TV at the Hampton set up to play the State games so we all watched Baldwin play in the quarterfinals together. The boys took full advantage of the 24-hour hot cocoa/tea/coffee available.
The coaches invited families to go out for dinner with the team on Thursday evening. Guess where they decided to go. . . Olive Garden.  Good thing the girls like it!  We had the entire back room and it was a really nice evening.
It was nice of Lydia and Jaeda to include my girls in their conversation for the evening.  Such a fun night!
We went downtown to do some exploring before the semifinal game on Friday. I remembered this cool vintage toy store from the last time we were here and knew the girls would like it.  Oliver liked the vintage tractor toys, too.

The train room is SO cool!  There are lots of buttons to push that make all sorts of things happen in the little towns.  We spent a long time playing in this room.
They also fed the horse a quarter to get a ride. The excitement was almost more than they could bear.
We found a pretty mural on our way to lunch at the Anchor Inn Mexican restaurant.
This was a very unique Mexican place! We really liked the food except for the "chips and cheese." The girls thought they were ordering chips and queso, but nope, it was just chips with melted cheddar on top.
The atmosphere was certainly unique and it was a fun place to get lunch before the big game.
We also remembered from our last trip the "prairie dog field" which is literally just a vacant field next to Home Depot filled with prairie dogs.  We had so much fun watching and LISTENING to them! I don't remember them being so vocal last time with their little squeaky barks.
Saturday we met up with Kyle and Sara's family for a relaxing (i.e. very SLOW) lunch at Chile's. Thankfully we were in no hurry and the girls enjoyed their root beers!
Then they wanted to do a little thrifting as our last excursion of the trip. Hutch has a really nice Goodwill and we found some bargains!
Our bonus trip to Hutch with my bonus daughters was so much fun. I'm thankful Evie has such great friends!
