As per tradition, we enjoyed two specific activities on Easter Eve: egg coloring and resurrection rolls. First up, we got to work making some pretty eggs. Thankfully, I had hard-boiled some extras because there were a few casualties this year.
Sydney came over to make an egg with us . . .
. . . and Evelyn woke up from her nap when the eggs were almost done (if not, we'd likely have had even more casualties).
It was kind of a Final 4 theme this year with a Wisconsin and Michigan State egg joining the group. And Calvin is ever true to KU even when they don't make it too far in the tournament.
My favorite tradition is the resurrection rolls. We started this one back in 2011 and I love that the boys can now tell about all of the ingredients/steps and what they represent. (Click here for my original post if you aren't familiar.) We had our crescent rolls (shroud), butter (anointing oil), cinnamon/sugar (spices), and of course the marshmallow (Jesus) and were ready to get started!
The best part is always when we open the oven (tomb) and cut into the roll (shroud) to see that it's empty!
And of course they are always delicious as well!
Preparations are complete and clothes are laid out for our Easter celebration -- What a great celebration it will be!
