Easter Egg Huntin' Around Town

"I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."  John 11:25-26

Our Easter weekend celebration kicked off on Saturday morning at our wonderful Retirement Community.
We enjoyed the spring decorations in the foyer and were greeted at the door by the Big Bunny himself!
The kids were escorted on the golf cart to their respective areas for hunting.

Being too old to participate himself, Calvin agreed to help Violet with her hunt (as long as he could get a cut of her candy!).  He rode the side of the cart while Violet helped drive.
Evelyn took off with the 4-6 year olds. . .
. . . while Oliver was very selective in his candy pick-ups.  He filled his bucket almost half full of nothing but Reese's peanut butter eggs!
Violet was in the same group as Oliver (7-10 year olds), and most of the kids were speedy as they raced down the hall picking up candy.  Violet, on the other hand, took her time and cleaned up everything that was left; she really filled her bucket with the "leftovers"!
Not only did the kids get a ton of great candy, they also got to choose a prize from the table in the community room.  There were some really cool prizes!  Evelyn ended up with a sparkly baton; Oliver got new sunglasses. . .
. . . and Violet got a prize that couldn't have been more perfect: a Nemo cup!
What a great time we had at our Retirement Community!  The kids all wore their KU gear in anticipation of our Final Four game that would be played that evening.
We had a couple hours to relax between the hunt at the nursing home and the Legion Hunt that afternoon.
As always, this hunt was well-attended by all of the Wellsville kids.
Syd and Sam came to help Vi find her eggs. . .
. . . and Calvin decided to help his littlest sister at this one.
Oliver, Garrett, and Brynn found their share of eggs at the Legion Hunt as well.
Here's our cousin crew at the Egg Hunt!
Once we had all of our slips out of the yellow eggs, we found our place in line at the American Legion downtown and began organizing.  The boys went with Jackson around town to redeem those slips that required visiting businesses, while the girls stayed with Russ and me at the Legion.
We had so many slips to redeem!  Here we are by Daddy's work spot, Vickers & Co, CPAs.
Once again, we were completely spoiled by all of the wonderful people and businesses of our community.  With only 3 kids hunting (Calvin was too old), we still ended up with $37 cash and lots of full size candy bars and other treats!  What a fun day for the kids!
Next year, Oliver will age out of the Easter Egg hunts also.  I'm thankful we still have a few years left with the girls because this is one of my favorite days of spring!
