Mom & Dad's Christmas

Last night was Christmas with Grandma Cheryl & Grandpa Kermit!  The kids were so excited to get the Christmas party started!  But as we always do, we required some pictures before dinner and presents.  First up, Grandma and Grandpa with all of the grandkids.  What a beautiful bunch!
Then the family pictures. . .
The above picture is the only one we had with Evelyn's eyes open.  She has become the professional "cheese!" girl when the camera comes out.
The kids played a bit before it was time for dinner.  This charades game on the phone was a big hit.
Pictures with some of the littlest girls in the family.

Grandma and Violet wearing their matching shirts.
We had a Mexican feast and then Uncle John did the honors of sharing the true Christmas story for the family, straight out of Luke chapter 2.
We heard once again about how the Word became flesh and came to earth as a baby in the most humble of circumstances, a story that will forever amaze me.  Following the example of the wise men, we let the kids open up their beautifully-wrapped gifts next!  Evelyn had a stack almost as tall as her, and was very excited to see what was inside!
Let the chaos begin!
The kids are always excited to open their shoes from Grandma Cheryl!
Violet was excited about her new baby. . .
. . . and Evelyn couldn't have been more pleased with her new jammies.  This girl has wanted to wear jammies 24/7 lately and only had 2 pair that fit!
The kids love watching Grandma Cheryl open her gifts and she loved this new sign with their house numbers on it!
Calvin and Tyler got these sweatshirts; aren't they hilarious??
The kids love when Grandma gets them hoodies, too.  Some got Jayhawks and some got Royals this year.
Kyla and Evelyn got some matching Frozen pajamas, but Violet REALLY wanted to wear them.  So here you have Violet in size 24 month pajamas and Oliver's new shoes.

The kids had snowball fights outside. . .we sang Christmas carols around the piano. . .they tried out some of the new games they got. . . and they really abused our "cousin Eddie" for the night, our friend Travis, with a lopsided wrestling match.  Never a dull moment when these cousins are together!
Evelyn got her new jammies on, her new sleeping bag out, and her new flashlight buddy on. . . I think this girl is ready for bed.
We had such a great time celebrating the birth of Jesus with these wonderful people.  I'm so thankful that God placed me in THIS family.  That's the BEST Christmas gift I could ever receive!
