Celebrating 21 years at the Oread

Yesterday was our 21st wedding anniversary!  To celebrate, Russ booked us a night at the Oread in Lawrence.  We've been to the Oread a few times, but never actually stayed there, and it was a treat!
The rooms were really nice and the beds super-comfy.  And there was A LOT of Baltic Brown granite, just like in our kitchen. Taking a shower made me feel right at home.
We got ready for dinner, but stopped to take a picture on the 9th floor terrace first -- Beautiful view of campus from up here!  And of course, we had to get the cheesy "green dress" picture to keep the tradition going.
We headed downtown and enjoyed some delicious Thai food.  Then we walked Mass Street for awhile and admired the gorgeous flowers.  It was a perfect evening for a stroll.
When we got back to the hotel, we went back up to the 9th floor to watch the sunset.  It was so pretty!  And seriously the night couldn't have been more perfect.  What an awesome August 5 evening.
Our views from the 9th floor terrace at night:
The campanile lit up was so pretty!
We got a great night's sleep and headed out to explore campus this morning.  It had been awhile since we'd walked around and I loved the trip down memory lane.  We went in several of the buildings where I'd taken classes during my 6 years there, as well as Danforth Chapel and the stacks at Watson Library (in case you were wondering, they are as creepy as ever).
We made our way down Jayhawk Boulevard to McLain's, where we had a yummy breakfast.
After filling our bellies, we walked back a different route and passed the Chi O fountain. . .
. . . and the campanile.  It was a very relaxing morning spent with my hubby of 21 years + 1 day.
What a gift this man is to me and our family! I thank God for the love and commitment he's given us, that only grows stronger with each passing year.  There is absolutely no one who could love me better!
