Aunt Dana's Awesome Apples!

Last weekend we celebrated a milestone birthday for Aunt Dana at their house in Topeka (worked out great with our Zoo Trip being in Topeka).  While we were there, she told the kids they could go in their backyard and pick apples from their apple trees.  Well, let me tell you, Aunt Dana's apple trees put the orchard's trees to shame!

These apples were big and juicy and tasty! Not to mention free!!

The boys could have used one of those apple pickers from the orchard, though. . .

There's a full bag of apples for you!
And finally we were able to make some yummy applesauce!  After making the two pies with the "annoyingly adorable" apples from the orchard, I had abandoned the idea of applesauce.  With these big, juicy apples, we were able to make plenty for eating, freezing, and giving away!
Thanks, Aunt Dana!  We may be back to relieve your trees of some more apples soon!
