My better half has made another trip around the sun and he just gets better with each passing year! We did a little decorating and baked the usual cake to celebrate at home.
The kids made him some heart-felt cards (well Evie, anyway) and we sang to our birthday boy. Actually, Violet's card may have been my favorite this year. She loves when Russ uses the air compressor to fill up tires so she drew a pretty awesome picture of "air up your tire" as she calls it.
Then Russ "opened" his gifts. He physically opened the lid on his new cooler and took the cover off of the new firepit. Definitely counts for opening gifts.
Our previous fire pit was getting really rough (like holes-in-the-bottom-rough), so it will be great to have a safer option.
Russ' birthday was also Calvin's "moving to college Eve" so definitely an excuse to go out to dinner. The kids are very predictable when we ask them where they want to eat.
