Family Night Out

This year for Christmas, instead of gifts, we got Mom & Dad a night out at the Embassy Suites with the whole family. So last Saturday, we all met at Jazz, one of Mom's favorite restaurants, for an early dinner before heading to the hotel.
Calvin is ready for the food to arrive!Once we got to the hotel, the kids had fun looking down from our 8th floor room to see what was going on below. And what did they see?
Papa Kermit and Grandma Cheryl! If you look VERY closely, they are standing in the upper left hand corner of the picture.
Of course, the pool is always a favorite with the kids--they sure love swimming!
The pool water was a bit cold, however, so it seemed like everyone hung out in the hot tub the majority of the time. With just half of our crew in the hot tub, it was pretty full (I think we scared everyone else away)!
Another reason we love the Embassy Suites is the Manager's Reception in the evenings. The kids love their kiddie cocktails and popcorn (and we like our drinks, too, of course!).
Joy & I decided the "Sea Breeze" was our drink of choice that evening.
After the reception was over, we took a cruise around the Plaza so the kids could see the lights. This was my pathetic attempt at getting a picture out the window of a moving vehicle.
The hotel was decorated so beautifully for the holidays.
After another swim, we headed back to the room where we girls made a chocolate fountain with plenty of dippables including strawberries, bananas, marshmallows, pretzel sticks, pineapple, graham crackers and apples. YUMMY!
We played games while munching on our chocolate-covered goodies, and were up past midnight for the 5th night in a row (including most of the kids)!
Calvin and Tyler found a nice place to sleep in the TV cabinet. They thought their hiding place was pretty cool stuff.

This night out was our gift to Mom & Dad, but it was really a great time for everybody. We may have to make it a tradition!
