Evelyn's 7th Grade Track Season

Evelyn had a GREAT first season of track! I loved watching her run and jump, and I think she had a lot of fun hanging out with her friends. Her best event was the 100 hurdles, which she won at all of the meets except the big meet at Jayhawk Linn and the combined Eagle Relays. I was so proud of how well she competed all season long! I'll hand this post over to her to tell you a little more.

I had a bunch of fun with track this season. My events were long jump, hurdles, 100 meter dash, and 4x100. All of them I really liked.

This was the only girl that beat me in hurdles (besides at Eagle Relays.) She was really good and still managed to beat me after hitting like 4 hurdles.
The Osage City meet had 9 schools and was a big track meet. Jayhawk Linn was the biggest with 12 schools there.

This is Piper and I getting ready for our 100 meter dash.

I was alright at long jump but Raelynn and Scarlett did it with me which made it more exciting.
I started the 4x100 and passed it off to Maggie then Raelynn then Piper. I liked starting it off because it's more fun to be in the blocks.
The 4x100 was great.
Hurdles was definitely my best event. Maggie and Ashlynn also did them and were pretty good at them.
Being on the field with friends was also a great part  of track.
Before a few tracks meets we all put sparkles and gems in our hair. One time we put it in Mrs. Adams hair too.
My long jump at Eagle Relays was not my best performance and I managed to scratch all three attempts but good thing it didn't end up mattering.
Here is our long jump crew.
A picture of the three amigas.
I'm doing my warm up before I jump.
This is at Eagle Relays when I got to face Kyla. She ended up beating me but not by much and I beat my PR by almost a second with 18.21 but it was hand timed so probably not exact.
Mid air shot of long jump.

At Eagle Relays there was also boys in the same heat which was a little weird.
Looks like both Grandma and Sara are very confused about something on their phones.
Charli did hurdles for the first 2 track meets but ended up not doing them. She was really good at turbo jav though.

In my set position before the 4x100.
Maggie and I's handoffs were always pretty good. At league we ended up getting second in the 4x100
We got second as a team at our League meet in Garnett.

Getting to hang out with friends was also a great part of track.
After our league meet we all ended up having a sleepover at Scarlett's.

Here is a video of my hurdles from league.
Both Maggie and I got our PRs!(if you don't count Eagles Relays that wasn't posted anywhere.)

Grandma and Grandpa came to watch me a few times and that was really nice.
This was the first time I was able to compete against Kyla in a school sport.

Mrs. Adams was a great coach and I really enjoyed having her as a coach. Mrs. Campbell was the assistant and she was also super cool.
All in all my first track season was great and I can't wait for next year!

Violet's Spring Choir Concerts

Violet has completed another wonderful year of choir. She is a very unique choir member, in that she is in THREE different groups (middle school choir, high school choir and church choir) and yet never actually sings during performances :)  But she definitely knows the songs and is always very excited for her concerts.  First up was her high school concert last week.

This was also the Awards Night for the music program and Violet got a letter for choir this year! Ms. Dominguez explained that if students participate in all of the required activities/concerts, they will receive a letter after their second year. Way to go, Violet!
Don't let this picture fool you. There was no sound coming out of her mouth during the concert.
But she sure looked adorable.
The most exciting moment of the night came during the Awards presentation when Violet's name was announced -- she received the "Underdog Award" which is for the member who shows resilience, dedication and commitment. Ms. Dominguez is the best!
Violet proudly showing off her award and letter!
As usual, she was much more interested in showing off her singing skills on the car ride home, so here are the fun songs her choir performed.
I was cracking up at the random comment on YouTube. I sent it on to Ms. Dominguez, saying, "I guess we're taking requests now!"
Then last night was her final concert of the year with the Middle School group. The concert was almost derailed completely when Grandpa Denny showed up in his Ranger as we were getting ready to leave. Violet loves concerts, but she loves the Ranger more! Thankfully, we got her pulled away.
Ready to go! She looked so pretty in her spring blue.
They sang 4 songs. And when I say "they", I mean all except Violet :)
But there was a clapping portion and she did great, right on the beat!
And that's a wrap for the spring choir concerts for our girl! A huge "Thank You" to Jenna Dominguez for being so awesome and letting Violet continue to enroll in both middle school and high school choir -- she loves it so!
